इष्टं दत्तम अधीतं च यज्ञाश च बहुदक्षिणाः सर्वम एतद अपत्यस्य कलां नार्हति षॊडशीम ।। २-३८-२६ ।।
'Acts of worship, gifts, study, and sacrifices, even those distinguished by great donations to Brahmanas, are not as meritorious as having a son, which outweighs them all by even one-sixteenth part.' ।। 2-38-26 ।।
सॊ ऽनपत्यश च वृद्धश च मिथ्याधर्मानुशासनात हंसवत तवम अपीदानीं जञातिभ्यः पराप्नुया वधम ।। २-३८-२८ ।।
'Childless, aged, and a proponent of false morality, you will now meet your end at the hands of your kinsmen, like the swan in the story.' ।। 2-38-28 ।।
'Long ago, there lived an old swan on the sea coast. Though he spoke of morality, his actions were contrary. He used to instruct the other birds.' ।। 2-38-30 ।।
