इष्टं दत्तम अधीतं च यज्ञाश च बहुदक्षिणाः सर्वम एतद अपत्यस्य कलां नार्हति षॊडशीम ॥ २-३८-२६ ॥
'Acts of worship, gifts, study, and sacrifices, even those distinguished by great donations to Brahmanas, are not as meritorious as having a son, which outweighs them all by even one-sixteenth part.' ॥ 2-38-26 ॥
english translation
iSTaM dattama adhItaM ca yajJAza ca bahudakSiNAH sarvama etada apatyasya kalAM nArhati SòDazIma ॥ 2-38-26 ॥
