शिशुपाल उवाच विभीषिकाभिर बह्वीभिर भीषयन सर्वपार्थिवान न वयपत्रपसे कस्माद वृद्धः सन कुलपांसनः ॥ २-३८-१ ॥
'Shishupala said, "Old and infamous wretch of thy race, art thou not ashamed of frightening all these monarchs with numerous false terrors?"' ॥ 2-38-1 ॥
english translation
युक्तम एतत तृतीयायां परकृतौ वर्तता तवया वक्तुं धर्माद अपेतार्थं तवं हि सर्वकुरूत्तमः ॥ २-३८-२ ॥
'You, being the foremost of the Kurus, and living in the third state of life (celibacy), should be offering counsel that aligns with morality. Instead, you provide advice that is utterly devoid of ethical considerations.' ॥ 2-38-2 ॥
english translation
शिशुपाल उवाच विभीषिकाभिर बह्वीभिर भीषयन सर्वपार्थिवान न वयपत्रपसे कस्माद वृद्धः सन कुलपांसनः ॥ २-३८-१ ॥
'Like a boat tied to another boat, or like the blind following the blind, so are the Kurus who have you as their guide.' ॥ 2-38-3 ॥

पूतनाघातपूर्वाणि कर्माण्य अस्य विशेषतः तवया कीर्तयतास्माकं भूयः परच्यावितं मनः ॥ २-३८-४ ॥
'Once again, you have pained our hearts by specifically recounting the deeds of this one (Krishna), such as the slaying of Putana and others.' ॥ 2-38-4 ॥
english translation
अवलिप्तस्य मूर्खस्य केशवं सतॊतुम इच्छतः कथं भीष्म न ते जिह्वा शतधेयं विदीर्यते ॥ २-३८-५ ॥
'Arrogant and ignorant as you are, and eager to praise Kesava, why does your tongue not split into a hundred parts?' ॥ 2-38-5 ॥
