राश्यंशकला गुणिता द्वादशनवभिर्ग्रहस्य भगणेभ्यः। द्वादशहृतावशिष्टं वर्षाद्युपलक्षितं यथान्यायम्॥१६॥

स्वांशत्रिभागनिजगृहवर्गोत्तमसंस्थिते द्वयं गुणकः। वक्रोच्चयोस्त्रिगुणितं नीचेऽर्धं क्षीयते विशेषेण॥१७॥
When a planet occupies its own Navamsa, Drekkana, Rasi, or Vargottama Navamsa, the multiplier is 2. The Ayurdaya has to be trebled when the planet is retrograde or is in exaltation, and halved when the planet is in depression.

पूर्वोक्तहरणमस्मिन् कुर्याद्भौमस्य शत्रुहरणं च। उदितनवांशकसदृशानब्दानुदयस्य कल्पयेन्मतिमान्॥१८॥
The deductions referred to above in connection with Pindayus must be done here too except for Mars and also while occupying an inimical house. And an intelligent astrologer should allot as many years for the Lagna as there are Navamsas that have risen in it.

अंशोद्भवं विलग्नात्पैण्डं भानोर्निसर्गजं चन्द्रात्। एतेषां यो बलवांस्तस्यामुं कल्पयेद्दायम्॥१९॥
Of the several kinds of Ayurdaya, the Amsayurdaya system should be adopted when the Lagna is strongest; the Pinda one when the Sun is powerful and the Nisargajayus when the Moon is endowed with full strength.

क्षेत्रोच्चमित्रभागे ग्रहैः समस्तैस्तदांशजनितश्च। अर्केन्दुलग्नरहितैर्ग्रहैस्तदांशोद्भवो दशामार्गः॥२०॥
When all the planets are posited in their own houses, exaltation signs or friend's houses or Navamsas, then the Amsayurdaya system should be adopted; so also will be the case when planets are not associated with the Sun, the Moon or the Lagna.
