अथ तेषां योगानामेकतमस्मिन्नगश्च ये जाताः। तेषां दशानुनयनं स्पष्टं वक्ष्यामि यत्नतश्चाहम्॥१॥
I shall now explain clearly and carefully the method of arriving at the exact Dasa-periods for those that are born under any one of the Yogas shown in the previous Chapter.

atha teSAM yogAnAmekatamasminnagazca ye jAtAH। teSAM dazAnunayanaM spaSTaM vakSyAmi yatnatazcAham॥1॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमययवनसिद्धसेनप्रबोधमाण्डव्यविष्णुगुप्ताद्यैः। आयुर्दायविभागो नॄणां सम्यक् पुरातनैः कथितः॥२॥
The various systems of computing men's (total life period contributed by the planets) have been well expounded by the ancients such as Maya, Yavana, Siddhasena, Prabodha, Mandavya and Vishnugupta.

hk transliteration by Sanscriptएकोनविंशतिसमा भानोश्चन्द्रस्य पञ्चकृतिरब्दाः। भौमस्य तु तिथिसंख्या बुधस्य षट्कद्वयं विनिर्दिष्टम्॥३॥
When the planets, the Sun and others, are in their highest exaltation degrees, they contribute in their order 19, 25, 15, 12, 15, 21 and 20 years towards a man's total life-period. (Sun-19, moon-25, mars-15, mecury-12).

ekonaviMzatisamA bhAnozcandrasya paJcakRtirabdAH। bhaumasya tu tithisaMkhyA budhasya SaTkadvayaM vinirdiSTam॥3॥

paJcadazAbdAzca guroH zukrasyApyekaviMzatiH kathitAH। mandasya viMzatisamAH paramoccasthA grahAH prayacchanti॥4॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्वोच्चादर्धं नीचे तदन्तरस्थेऽनुपाततः कल्प्यम्। विधिनैवं खचराणां दशानुनयनं क्रमेण कर्तव्यम्॥५॥
A planet occupying its lowest debilitation-point contributes only half the number of years given above; the number of years it contributes when it occupies an intermediate position (between debilitation and exaltation) will have to be found out by the rule-of three process. In this manner, the Dasa-periods of all the planets in their order have to be calculated.
