उदगयने स्वक्षेत्रे स्वोच्चे स्वांशत्रिभागहोरासु। स्वदिने बलवान् भानुर्मित्रक्षेत्रेषु मध्यबलः॥१॥
The Sun is said to be strong when he is in the Northerly course (Uttarayana), when he is posited in his own house, his exaltation Rasi, Navamsa, Drekkana or Hora, He is also strong in his own day (Sunday). But in the houses of his friends, he is of moderate strength.

राशिप्रमुखे भानुर्बलवान् मध्याश्रितस्तु मध्यबलः। राश्यन्ते बलहीनः सन्ध्यायां ग्रस्तकाले च॥२॥
He is strong when posited in the initial portion of a Rasi; of medium strength in the middle of a Rasi and weak at the end of it. He is likewise weak during twilights as well as during eclipses.

चन्द्रो वृषभं यातो दक्षिणमार्गे स्वभे स्वहोरायाम्। रात्रौ स्वांशे स्वदिने स्वद्रेक्काणे बलान्वितः प्रोक्तः॥३॥
The Moon is said to be strong in Vrishabha Rasi, in her Southerly course, own house, her own Hora, at night, in her own Navamsa, in her own day (Monday) and in her own Drekkana.

प्रतिपत्पूर्वदशाहे मध्यबलः शीतगुः सिते पक्षे। श्रेष्ठो द्वितीयदशके स्वल्पबलश्चन्द्रमास्तृतीये च॥४॥
She is of moderate strength in the first ten days of the bright fort-night, very strong in the second ten-day-period and weak in the last ten days.

उत्तरपथं प्रयातः प्रदक्षिणं वा ग्रहाणां च। सौम्ययुतो दृष्टो वा सर्वग्रहवीक्षितो बली चन्द्रः॥५॥
When the Moon is towards the North of planets or goes in a clock-wise direction around the planets, or when she is conjoined with or aspected by benefics, or when she is aspected by all the other planets, she becomes strong.
