अयनस्य तु वैलोम्ये परिवर्तः परस्परम्। शशिज्ञगुरुभिः सार्द्धं सितलोहितसूर्यजाः॥११॥
When the Ritu does not fit in with the Ayana, it has to be exchanged thus : the Moon, Mercury and Jupiter should be substituted for Venus, Mars and Saturn respectively.

द्रेक्काणार्द्धे भवेत्पूर्वे मासः पूर्वोऽपरे परः। पूर्वोत्तरमुखो भूत्वा दक्षिणाङ्गं यदि स्पृशेत्॥१२॥
If the Lagna rising at the time be in the first half of a decanate, the month of birth will be the first of the two months constituting the Ritu; if it be the second, it will be the second of the two months. Facing the North-East, if you touch a limb in the right side -

उत्तरायणमासे तु जन्तुर्जातो न संशयः। विपरीतं तदा स्पृष्ट्वा दक्षिणायनमाश्रितः॥१३॥
- the birth must have been in a month of the Uttarayana. If you touch any in the other side, the birth was in a month of the Dakshinayana.

पुष्प संस्पर्शनादेवमृतुर्वाच्यो न संशयः। अधः कायं स्पृशेत्पूर्व ऊर्ध्वाङ्गस्पर्शने परः॥१४॥
The Ritu may also be guessed correctly by touching a flower. If the querist should touch first a lower limb of the body, the birth was in the Purva Ayana; if an upper limb, the birth was in the Dakshinayana.

पुनः स्पर्शे पुनर्मासो वक्तव्यो दैववित्तमैः। तयोर्निरूपणादैक्यं यत्तथ्यं तन्न संशयः॥१५॥
By a similar touch again, the month of birth may be guessed by the astrologer. When the two inferences coincide, the correctness of the inference is assured.
