अथ सूर्यभेदनं नाम कुम्भकः - दक्षनाड्या' समाकृष्य बहिःस्थं पवनं शनैः I यथा लगति कण्ठात्तु हृदयावधि सस्वनम् ॥२-१०॥
Slowly draw the external air through the right nostril in such a manner that the air causes a friction in the throat upto the heart and a sonorous sound is produced.

दाहिनी नासिका से धीरे-धीरे बाहरी वायु को इस प्रकार खींचें कि वायु गले में हृदय तक घर्षण पैदा करे और मधुर ध्वनि उत्पन्न हो।
