शस्त्रेन वेणीविनिगूहितेन विदूरथं स्वा महिषी जघान । विषप्रदिग्धेन च नूपुरेण देवी विरक्ता किल काशिराजम् ॥ ७८-०१ ॥
King Vidūratha was killed by his queen who concealed a weapon in her plaited hair; and the king of Benares was killed by his queen, who disliked him with poison which she carried in her anklets.
english translation
zastrena veNIvinigUhitena vidUrathaM svA mahiSI jaghAna । viSapradigdhena ca nUpureNa devI viraktA kila kAzirAjam ॥ 78-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptएवं विरक्ता जनयन्ति दोषान् प्राणच्छिदो अन्यैरनुकीर्तितैः किम् । रक्ताविरक्ताः पुरुषैरतो अर्थात् परीक्षितव्याः प्रमदाः प्रयत्नात् ॥ ७८-०२ ॥
Thus wives who do not love their husbands have killed them. Of what use is it to quote more instances. Husbands shall therefore ascertain in various ways whether they have secured the affection of their wives.
english translation
evaM viraktA janayanti doSAn prANacchido anyairanukIrtitaiH kim । raktAviraktAH puruSairato arthAt parIkSitavyAH pramadAH prayatnAt ॥ 78-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्नेहं मनोभवकृतं कथयन्ति भावा नाभीभुजस्तनविभूषणदर्शनानि । वस्त्राभिसंयमनकेशविमोक्षणानि भ्रूक्षेपकम्पितकटाक्षनिरीक्षणानि ॥ ७८-०३ ॥
A loving wife shows her love in various ways. She will, in the presence of her lord, show, as if by accident, her navel, arms, and ornaments and will adjust her garments; will allow the hair of her head to fall loose as if by accident, will raise her eyebrows, will tremble, and will cast a side-look at her husband.
english translation
snehaM manobhavakRtaM kathayanti bhAvA nAbhIbhujastanavibhUSaNadarzanAni । vastrAbhisaMyamanakezavimokSaNAni bhrUkSepakampitakaTAkSanirIkSaNAni ॥ 78-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptउच्चैः ष्ठीवनं उत्कटप्रहसितं शय्याआसनौत्सर्पणं गात्रऽस्फोटनजृम्भणानि सुलभद्रव्याल्पसम्प्रार्थना । बालऽलिङ्गनचुम्बनान्यभिमुखे सख्याः समालोकनं दृक्पातश्च पराङ्मुखे गुणकथा कर्णस्य कण्डूयनम् ॥ ७८-०४ ॥
She will spit aloud; laugh openly; get first into the bed; crack her joints; yawn; beg for the gift of trifles; embrace a child and kiss it; will for a time look at her friend; look at her husband when his look is turned from her, scratch her ears and will speak in his praise m his absence.

uccaiH SThIvanaM utkaTaprahasitaM zayyAAsanautsarpaNaM gAtra'sphoTanajRmbhaNAni sulabhadravyAlpasamprArthanA । bAla'liGganacumbanAnyabhimukhe sakhyAH samAlokanaM dRkpAtazca parAGmukhe guNakathA karNasya kaNDUyanam ॥ 78-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptइमां च विन्द्यादनुरक्तचेष्टां प्रियाणि वक्ति स्वधनं ददाति । विलोक्य संहृष्यति वीतरोषा प्रमार्ष्टि दोषान्गुणकीर्तनेन ॥ ७८-०५ ॥
When he finds this woman, he speaks to her dear ones and gives her his wealth. When one sees the Lord, one is overjoyed and free from anger. By chanting the name of the Lord, one wipes away one’s faults.

imAM ca vindyAdanuraktaceSTAM priyANi vakti svadhanaM dadAti । vilokya saMhRSyati vItaroSA pramArSTi doSAnguNakIrtanena ॥ 78-05 ॥
