देवैश्चमर्यः किल वालहेतोः सृष्टा हिमक्ष्माधरकन्दरेषु । आपीतवर्णाश्च भवन्ति तासां कृष्णाश्च लाङ्गूलभवाः सिताश्च ॥ ७२-०१ ॥
Expressly for the use made of their tail the Cāmarī deer (Bos grunniens) appears to have been created in the caves of the Himālayas, the hair growing at the end of their tail is either white or black or yellow.
english translation
devaizcamaryaH kila vAlahetoH sRSTA himakSmAdharakandareSu । ApItavarNAzca bhavanti tAsAM kRSNAzca lAGgUlabhavAH sitAzca ॥ 72-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptस्नेहो मृदुत्वं बहुवालता वैशद्यं अल्पास्थिनिबन्धनत्वम् । शौक्ल्यं च तासां गुणसम्पदुक्ता विद्धाल्पलुप्तानि न शोभनानि ॥ ७२-०२ ॥
If the hair be glossy, much in quantity, soft, pure, white, and with a small bone at the root, the Cāmara is one of a superior kind; but if the hair be knotty, split, broken or small in quantity, the Cāmara will not conduce to prosperity.
english translation
sneho mRdutvaM bahuvAlatA vaizadyaM alpAsthinibandhanatvam । zauklyaM ca tAsAM guNasampaduktA viddhAlpaluptAni na zobhanAni ॥ 72-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptअध्यर्धहस्तप्रमितो अस्य दण्डो हस्तो अथ वाअरत्निसमो अथ वाअन्यः । काष्ठात्शुभात्काञ्चनरूप्यगुप्ताद् रत्नैश् च सर्वैश् च हिताय राज्ञाम् ॥ ७२-०३ ॥
The length of the handle shall be either a cubit and a half or a cubit or four digits less than a cubit. It shall be made of wood and covered with gold or silver set with gems and precious stones. Such a Cāmara will conduce to the prosperity of the king.

adhyardhahastapramito asya daNDo hasto atha vAaratnisamo atha vAanyaH । kASThAtzubhAtkAJcanarUpyaguptAd ratnaiz ca sarvaiz ca hitAya rAjJAm ॥ 72-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptयष्ट्यातपत्राङ्कुशवेत्रचापवितानकुन्तध्वजचामराणाम् । व्यापीततन्त्रीमधुकृष्णवर्णा वर्णक्रमेणएव हिताय दण्डाः ॥ ७२-०४ ॥
The beam or the shaft or the handle, as the case may be, of the lute, the umbrella, the elephant driver’s hook, the cane, the bow, the canopy, shall be yellow, red, of the colour of the honey, and black in the case of the Brāhmaṇas, Kṣatriyas, Vaiśyas and Śūdras respectively.

yaSTyAtapatrAGkuzavetracApavitAnakuntadhvajacAmarANAm । vyApItatantrImadhukRSNavarNA varNakrameNaeva hitAya daNDAH ॥ 72-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमातृभूधनकुलक्षयावहा रोगमृत्युजननाश्च पर्वभिः । द्व्यादिभिर्द्विकविवर्धितैः क्रमात् द्वादशान्तविरतैः समैः फलम् ॥ ७२-०५ ॥
If the handle contain two, four, six, eight, ten or twelve joints, the effects will respectively be the death of a person’s mother, loss of lands, of wealth and of family, disease or death.
