मध्वाभदन्ताः सुविभक्तदेहा न च उपदिग्धा न कृशाः क्षमाश्च । गात्रैः समैश्चापसमानवंशा वराहतुल्यैर्जघनैश्च भद्राः ॥ ६७-०१ ॥
The elephant (hasti) whose tusks are of the colour of honey, whose limbs are will defined, whose body is neither large nor small, and which is capable of bearing heavy burdens, whose limbs are symmetrical, whose back bones are like bows and whose buttocks resemble those of the pig, is known as Bhadra.

madhvAbhadantAH suvibhaktadehA na ca upadigdhA na kRzAH kSamAzca । gAtraiH samaizcApasamAnavaMzA varAhatulyairjaghanaizca bhadrAH ॥ 67-01 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptवक्षो अथ कक्षावलयः श्लथाश्च लम्बौदरस्त्वग्बृहती गलश्च । स्थूला च कुक्षिः सह पेचकेन सैंही च दृग्मन्दमतङ्गजस्य ॥ ६७-०२ ॥
The elephant whose breast, arm-pits and folds of skin are loose, whose belly is hanging, whose skin and neck are thick, whose abdomen resembles that of the crow, and whose eyes are like those of the lion, is known as Manda.
english translation
vakSo atha kakSAvalayaH zlathAzca lambaudarastvagbRhatI galazca । sthUlA ca kukSiH saha pecakena saiMhI ca dRgmandamataGgajasya ॥ 67-02 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptमृगास्तु ह्रस्वाधरवालमेढ्रास् तन्वङ्घ्रि कण्ठद्विजहस्तकर्णाः । स्थूलईक्षणाश्चैति यथाउक्तचिह्नैः सङ्कीर्णनागा व्यतिमिश्रचिह्नाः ॥ ६७-०३ ॥
The elephant whose lips, tail and genital organ are short, whose legs, neck, tusks, trunk and the ears are small and whose eyes are large, is known as Mṛga. The elephant (hasti) which possesses the three sets of features above referred to, is known as Saṅkīrna.

mRgAstu hrasvAdharavAlameDhrAs tanvaGghri kaNThadvijahastakarNAH । sthUlaIkSaNAzcaiti yathAuktacihnaiH saGkIrNanAgA vyatimizracihnAH ॥ 67-03 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptपञ्चौन्नतिः सप्त मृगस्य दैर्घ्यम् अष्टौ च हस्ताः परिणाहमानम् । एकद्विवृद्धावथ मन्दभद्रौ सङ्कीर्ननागो अनियतप्रमाणः ॥ ६७-०४ ॥
The Mṛga class of elephants are 5 cubits high, 7 cubits long and 8 cubits broad. The Manda and Bhadra classes are larger by one and two cubits respectively in each respect. No fixed measurement is prescribed for the Saṅkīrṇa class of elephants.

paJcaunnatiH sapta mRgasya dairghyam aSTau ca hastAH pariNAhamAnam । ekadvivRddhAvatha mandabhadrau saGkIrnanAgo aniyatapramANaH ॥ 67-04 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptभद्रस्य वर्णो हरितो मदश्च मन्दस्य हारिद्रकसन्निकाशः । कृष्णो मदश्चाभिहितो मृगस्य सङ्कीर्णनागस्य मदो विमिश्रः ॥ ६७-०५ ॥
The Bhadra is of green colour and is a rutting elephant (hasti). The Manda is of yellow colour. The Mṛga is of black colour and is also a rutting elephant. The Saṅkīrṇa is of mixed colour and a rutting elephant.

bhadrasya varNo harito madazca mandasya hAridrakasannikAzaH । kRSNo madazcAbhihito mRgasya saGkIrNanAgasya mado vimizraH ॥ 67-05 ॥
