सिराविमोक्षः स्निग्धस्य त्रिवृच्छ्रेष्ठं विरेचनम् । लिखिते स्रुतरक्ते च वर्त्मनि क्षालनं हितम् ॥ १७ ॥
Once properly unctuated (snigdha), bloodletting by venesection (sirāvimokṣa) should be performed, followed by purgation using trivrit (Operculina turpethum), which is the best therapeutic laxative. After the eyelid has been scraped and the bleeding has ceased, washing the eyelid is beneficial.
