रूपमुत्पत्स्यमानेऽस्मिन् हृत्कम्पः शून्यता भ्रमः । तमसो दर्शनं ध्यानं भ्रूव्युदासोऽक्षिवैकृतम् ॥ ६ ॥
The premonitory symptoms (purvarupa) appearing when this disease is about to manifest are: palpitations or tremors of the heart, a feeling of emptiness in the chest, dizziness/vertigo, perception of darkness before the eyes, deep anxiety or brooding, twitching or distortion of the eyebrows, and abnormal movements of the eyes.

अशब्दश्रवणं स्वेदो लालासिङ्घाणकस्रुतिः । अविपाकोऽरुचिर्मूर्छा कुक्ष्याटोपो बलक्षयः ॥ ७ ॥
Hearing non-existent sounds (tinnitus/hallucinations), excessive sweating, profuse salivation and nasal discharge, indigestion, loss of appetite, fainting (syncope), gurgling noises or distension in the abdomen, and depletion of bodily strength.

Loss of sleep, body aches, excessive thirst, and dreaming of singing, dancing, drinking oil or alcohol, and urinating the same substances.

तत्र वातात्स्फुरत्सक्थिः प्रपतंश्च मुहुर्मुहुः । अपस्मरति सञ्ज्ञां च लभते विस्वरं रुदन् ॥ ९ ॥
In the type of epilepsy caused by Vata, the patient experiences twitching or tremors in the thighs, falls to the ground repeatedly, loses consciousness, and then regains it quickly while crying out with an unnatural, distorted voice.

उत्पिण्डिताक्षः श्वसिति फेनं वमति कम्पते । आविध्यति शिरो दन्तान् दशत्याध्मातकन्धरः ॥ १० ॥
The patient's eyes bulge out, they breathe heavily or rapidly (dyspnea), vomit froth from the mouth, and shiver violently. They toss or strike their head, grind or gnash their teeth, and have rigid, distended muscles in the neck and shoulders.
