परितो विक्षिपत्यङ्गं विषमं विनताङ्गुलिः । रूक्षश्यावारुणाक्षित्वङ्नखास्यः कृष्णमीक्षते ॥ ११ ॥
They thrash their limbs about irregularly in all directions, with the fingers bent tightly inward. The eyes, skin, nails, and face become dry, dark-bluish, or reddish-tinged, and the patient perceives all visual objects as black.

The shapes and forms seen by the patient appear unsteady, rough, distorted, and with highly deformed or monstrous faces. In the type of epilepsy caused by Pitta, the patient loses consciousness frequently and regains awareness after a short interval.

The froth from the mouth, the eyes, the face, and the skin all turn yellowish. The patient strikes or thrashes against the ground, perceives terrifying, blazing, or blood-red angry forms, and suffers from intense thirst.

In the type of epilepsy caused by Kapha, the onset of the seizure takes a long time to develop, and the awakening (regaining of consciousness) is similarly delayed. The convulsive movements are fewer and mild, there is an excessive flow of thick saliva, and the eyes, nails, skin, and face turn distinctly white.
