दीर्घकालानुबन्धश्च विद्याद्दुष्टव्रणाकृतिम् । स पञ्चदशधा दोषैः सरक्तै: स्तत्रमारुतात् ॥ ५ ॥

and persisting for a long duration (dīrghakālānubandhaś ca)—these are to be known as the characteristics/features of a Duṣṭa Vraṇa (vitiated/non-healing ulcer) (vidyād duṣṭavranākṛtim). It (Vrana) is of fifteen kinds, caused by the Doshas along with Rakta (blood). Among these, the features of a Vraṇa (ulcer) caused by Vāta (tatra mārutāt) are as follows:
