शीतांश्चाभ्यङ्गलेपादीन् युञ्ज्याच्छ्लेष्मात्मके पुनः । यष्ट्याह्वसैन्धवयुतं कुमारं पाययेद्घृतम् ॥ १६ ॥

Cooling body massages (abhyaṅga), pastes (lepa), and other refreshing treatments should be applied. Next, for breast milk vitiated by Kapha (Śleṣmā). In the case of Kapha-vitiated breast milk, the child should be given medicated ghee mixed with the powder of yaṣṭyāhva (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and saindhava (rock salt).

सिन्धूत्थपिप्पलीमद्वा पिष्टैः क्षौद्रयुतैरथ । राठपुष्पैः स्तनौ लिम्पेच्छिशोश्च दशनच्छदौ ॥ १७ ॥

Alternatively, a paste made from saindhava (rock salt) and pippalī (Piper longum), or the paste of rāṭha-puṣpa (flowers of Randia dumetorum) mixed with honey, should be smeared over the breasts of the mother and the lips (daśanacchada) of the infant.

सुखमेवं वमेद्बालः तीक्ष्णैर्धात्रीं तु वामयेत् । अथाचरितसंसर्गी मुस्तादिं क्वथितं पिबेत् ॥ १८ ॥

By this method, the child vomits easily (thereby expelling the vitiated Kapha). The wet-nurse (or mother), however, should be given a strong emetic therapy (vāmana). After undergoing emesis and following the graduated dietary regimen (saṃsarjana krama), she should drink the decoction of the Mustādi group of herbs.

Similarly, she may drink the decoction of tagara (Valeriana wallichii), pṛthvīkā (Nigella sativa), suradāru (Cedrus deodara), and kaliṅgaka (Holarrhena antidysenterica); or a decoction of ativiṣā (Aconitum heterophyllum), mustā (Cyperus rotundus), ṣaḍgranthā (Acorus calamus), and the Pañcakola group (pippalī, pippalīmūla, cavya, citraka, and śuṇṭhī).

स्तन्ये त्रिदोषमलिने दुर्गन्ध्यामं जलोपमम् । विबद्धमच्छं विच्छिन्नं फेनिलं चोपवेश्यते ॥ २० ॥

When the breast milk is contaminated by all three Doshas (Sannipata), it becomes foul-smelling, raw/undigested (āma), and watery. Upon drinking it, the child passes feces that is constipated (hard), thin, fragmented, and frothy.
