गुदे विशेषाद्विण्मूत्रसंरोधोऽतिप्रवर्तनम्। पुंस्त्वोपघातो मृत्युर्वा गुदस्य शातनाद्ध्रुवम्॥३६॥
Excessive burning of the anus/rectum produces obstruction for passing of feces and urine or their excessive elimination, loss of/destruction of sexual power (impotence) and sure death due to prolapsed of rectum.

In case of nose, the nasal bridge will fall off, contraction of the nasal bridge and loss of sense of smell. Similar complaints occur in the case of ears and other sense organs.

Management of excessive burning by kshara: In such conditions, pouring the part with sour fluids, applications of paste of honey, ghee and sesame, activities, foods and other comforts which mitigate vata and pitta and all others which produce cold should be adopted (cold foods and comforts).

cold should be adopted (cold foods and comforts). Sour taste is cold to touch, when combined with alkali, the sour taste will quickly attain the properties of sweet taste. Hence the burns caused by alkali should be quickly washed with sour substances.

Effects of wrongly administered kshara: Alkali administered in less or excessive proportions (by the physician of poor intellect) is like death caused by poison, fire, sharp weapons or thunderbolt, whereas when done properly by an intelligent physician, it cures even the dreaded diseases quickly. (1) Thermal/fire cauterization, Branding – Agnikarma: Fire cauterization is better than even alkali cauterization. The diseases that are treated by fire cauterization do not recur and it can be used even in diseases which have not been successfully treated by herbs, alkali or surgical methods.
