अम्लो हि शीतः स्पर्शेन क्षारस्तेनोपसंहितः। यात्याशु स्वादुतां तस्मादम्लैर्निर्वापयेत्तराम्॥३९॥

cold should be adopted (cold foods and comforts). Sour taste is cold to touch, when combined with alkali, the sour taste will quickly attain the properties of sweet taste. Hence the burns caused by alkali should be quickly washed with sour substances.
