Astanga Hrudaya
ताम्रतातोदकण्ड्वाद्यैर्दुर्दग्धम् तं पुनर्दहेत्। अतिदग्धे स्रवेद्रक्तं मूर्च्छादाहज्वरादयः॥३५॥
The opposite of it, that is the appearance of coppery red color, pricking pain, itching etc. are the features of improper/inadequate burning. Such an area should be burnt again. Symptoms of excessive burning by kshara: Over burning (by alkalis) produces bleeding, fainting, burning sensation, fever etc.
