Diseases that are afflicted with distressing symptoms and complications quickly become incurable if not treated with rejuvenating and restorative medicines, O child. Listen attentively to this.

The following eight diseases are inherently very hard to cure: paralysis (Vata-vyadhi), morbid discharges (Prameha), leprosy (Kushtha), piles (Arsha), fistula in ano (Bhagandara), stone in the bladder (Ashmari), false presentations (Mudha-garbha), and the eight types of abdominal dropsy (Udara).

These eight diseases, by their very nature, are extremely difficult to treat and are considered major ailments. They are characterized by the wasting away of vital forces and flesh, emaciation, thirst, vomiting, and fever.
