शणजक्षौमसूत्राभ्यां स्नाय्वा बालेन वा पुनः | मूर्वागुडूचीतानैर्वा सीव्येद्वेल्लितकं शनैः ||२१||

The wound should be sutured slowly and carefully using threads made from either a piece of cloth or from Snayu (ligament) or Bāla (a type of fiber), or from the fibers of Murva or Gudūcī.

In regions with scanty flesh or at joints, a needle with a width of two finger-breadths should be used. For areas with more flesh, a needle three finger-breadths long and three-sided should be used, while a needle with a round or circular cross-section should be employed in cases involving flesh.
