बालस्थविररूक्षक्षतक्षीणभीरुपरिश्रान्तमद्यपाध्वस्त्रीकर्शितवमितविरिक्तास्थापितानुवासितजागरितक्लीबकृशगर्भिणीनां कासश्वासशोषप्रवृद्धज्वराक्षेपकपक्षाघातोपवासपिपासामूर्च्छाप्रपीडितानां च सिरां न विध्येत् , याश्चाव्यध्याः, व्यध्याश्चादृष्टाः, दृष्टाश्चायन्त्रिताः, यन्त्रिताश्चानुत्थिता इति ॥३॥
Venesection should not be performed on children, the elderly, those with a dry nature, wounds, emaciation, fearfulness, exhaustion, intoxication, those weakened by alcohol, women weakened after sexual intercourse, vomiting, purging, enema, or unctuous enema, those who have stayed awake at night, the impotent, the pregnant, or those suffering from cough, dyspnea, consumption, high fever, convulsions, paralysis, fasting, thirst, or fainting. Additionally, it should not be done on veins that are unfit for puncture, those that are not visible, those that are visible but difficult to restrain, or those that are restrained but not raised.

बालक, वृद्ध, रूक्ष प्रकृति वाले, घाव से पीड़ित, दुर्बल, भयभीत, थके हुए, मद्यपान से प्रभावित, स्त्री के साथ संबंध बनाने के बाद कमजोर, वमन करने वाले, विरेचन किए हुए, एनिमा या अनुवासन एनिमा प्राप्त किए हुए, रात में जागे हुए, नपुंसक, कृश, गर्भवती स्त्री, कास, श्वास, शोष, बढ़े हुए ज्वर, आक्षेप, पक्षाघात, उपवास, प्यास और मूर्च्छा से पीड़ित व्यक्तियों में शिरा-वेधन नहीं करना चाहिए। जिन शिराओं का वेधन नहीं किया जाता, जो दृष्टिगोचर नहीं हैं, जो दृष्टिगोचर हैं पर यंत्रणा से नियंत्रित नहीं हो रही हैं, और जो यंत्रित हैं परंतु उठी हुई नहीं हैं, उनमें भी शिरा-वेधन नहीं करना चाहिए।

शोणितावसेकसाध्याश्च ये विकाराः प्रागभिहितास्तेषु चापक्वेष्वन्येषु चानुक्तेषु यथाभ्यासं यथान्यायं च सिरां विध्येत् ॥४॥
Venesection should be performed as per practice and proper method in conditions previously mentioned that are treatable by bloodletting, and also in other unmentioned conditions where the vitiation has not fully matured.
