अथास्याः स्तन्यमप्सु परीक्षेत; तच्चेच्छीतलममलं तनु शङ्खावभासमप्सु न्यस्तमेकीभावं गच्छत्यफेनिलमतन्तुमन्नोत्प्लवतेऽवसीदति वा तच्छुद्धमिति विद्यात्, तेन कुमारस्यारोग्यं शरीरोपचयो बलवृद्धिश्च भवति । न च क्षुधितशोकार्तश्रान्तप्रदुष्टधातुगर्भिणीज्वरितातिक्षीणातिस्थूलविदग्धभक्तविरुद्धाहारतर्पितायाः स्तन्यं पाययेत्; नाजीर्णौषधं च बालं, दोषौषधमलानां तीव्रवेगोत्पत्तिभयात् ॥३१॥
"Then the milk should be tested in water. If it is clear, pure, and resembles the conch shell, it is considered pure; otherwise, if it is foamy, thick, or has a singular consistency, it is known to be impure. The health of the child, the nourishment of the body, and the increase in strength will be ensured with pure milk. One should not give milk that is from a person suffering from hunger, sorrow, fatigue, or any serious illness, as well as milk from someone who has consumed improper food or is afflicted by any disorders, due to the fear of inducing a violent reaction in the child. Nor should any decoction be given to the child in cases of indigestion or if there is a strong imbalance in the doshas."
