Poison, by its very nature, or due to the absence of its qualities, turns into a harmful poison (dūṣīviṣa). If the potency is weak, it does not cause a fall (or collapse). However, when it is covered by phlegm and is associated with the rainy season or the effects of cold, it can lead to harm.

The poison, when it remains in the body and affects the tissues (rasa, etc.), causes disturbances in the qualities and functions of the doshas, which may lead to exacerbation of symptoms. In times of excess cold or during harsh days, it brings about rapid reactions, which manifest as significant changes in the body. The full nature and appearance of these reactions should be understood as described earlier.
