Then, he should administer the enema to one whose body is well anointed and has perspired, whose outward urges have been released, in a clean house, at midday, on a long couch, with a good support below, with the region of the hips properly covered, without a pillow, lying on the left side, with the right thigh drawn up and the left leg stretched out, who has a good mind, has eaten old food, has restrained his speech, has a well-positioned body, and is not sleepy. Then, having placed the nozzle on the left foot and pressing it with the big toe and the toe of the other foot, contracting half the mouth of the enema with the ring finger and little finger of the right hand, and opening half the mouth with the middle finger, index finger, and thumb, he should pour the medicine into the enema. Taking it up with the thumb of the right hand, the index finger, and middle finger, he should ensure that it is neither dripping, stretched, bubbling, contracted, windy, nor near the medicine. Again taking it up with the other hand above, one should pour it with the right hand. Then, having wrapped it around the medicine twice or thrice with a thread, one should tie it. Then, taking the enema with the right hand outstretched, taking the nozzle with the middle and index fingers of the left hand, closing the nozzle with the thumb, applying the nozzle with the tip anointed with ghee, and taking it up anointed with ghee, one should place the nozzle without a back bone, level, facing upwards, with the lotus, saying, "Place the nozzle."

Then, after removing the nozzle, one should tell the patient to remain still for the duration of thirty matras (a measure of time) without moving. After that, one should help the patient to sit up to facilitate the expulsion of the enema. The time for the return of the Niruha (the substance of the enema) is indeed a moment.
