सम्बद्धवृषणः सोऽपि ह्यजया कूपलब्धया । कालं बहुतिथं भद्रे कामैर्नाद्यापि तुष्यति ॥ ९-१९-११ ॥
My dear wife, when the he-goat had his testicles restored, he enjoyed the she-goat he had gotten from the well, but although he continued to enjoy for many, many years, even now he has not been fully satisfied. ॥ 9-19-11 ॥
english translation
हे प्रिये, जब बकरे के अण्डकोष जुड़ गये तो उसने कुएँ से मिली बकरी के साथ सम्भोग किया और यद्यपि वह अनेकानेक वर्षों तक भोग करता रहा, किन्तु आज भी वह पूरी तरह सन्तुष्ट नहीं हो पाया है। ॥ ९-१९-११ ॥

तथाहं कृपणः सुभ्रु भवत्याः प्रेमयन्त्रितः । आत्मानं नाभिजानामि मोहितस्तव मायया ॥ ९-१९-१२ ॥
O my dear wife with beautiful eyebrows, I am exactly like that he-goat, for I am so poor in intelligence that I am captivated by your beauty and have forgotten the real task of self-realization. ॥ 9-19-12 ॥
english translation
हे सुन्दर भौहों वाली प्रिये, मैं उसी बकरे के सदृश हूँ क्योंकि मैं इतना मन्दबुद्धि हूँ कि मैं तुम्हारे सौन्दर्य से मोहित होकर आत्म-साक्षात्कार के असली कार्य को भूल गया हूँ। ॥ ९-१९-१२ ॥

यत्पृथिव्यां व्रीहियवं हिरण्यं पशवः स्त्रियः । न दुह्यन्ति मनःप्रीतिं पुंसः कामहतस्य ते ॥ ९-१९-१३ ॥
A person who is lusty cannot satisfy his mind even if he has enough of everything in this world, including rice, barley and other food grains, gold, animals and women. Nothing can satisfy him. ॥ 9-19-13 ॥
english translation
कामी पुरुष का मन कभी तुष्ट नहीं होता भले ही उसे इस संसार की हर वस्तु प्रचुर मात्रा में उपलब्ध क्यों न हो, जैसेकि धान, जौ, अन्य अनाज, सोना, पशु तथा स्त्रियाँ इत्यादि। उसे किसी वस्तु से संतोष नहीं होता। ॥ ९-१९-१३ ॥

न जातु कामः कामानामुपभोगेन शाम्यति । हविषा कृष्णवर्त्मेव भूय एवाभिवर्धते ॥ ९-१९-१४ ॥
As supplying butter to a fire does not diminish the fire but instead increases it more and more, the endeavor to stop lusty desires by continual enjoyment can never be successful. [In fact, one must voluntarily cease from material desires.] ॥ 9-19-14 ॥

जिस तरह अग्नि में घी डालने से अग्नि शान्त नहीं होती अपितु अधिकाधिक बढ़ती जाती है उसी प्रकार निरन्तर भोग द्वारा कामेच्छाओं को रोकने का प्रयास कभी भी सफल नहीं हो सकता। (तथ्य तो यह है कि मनुष्य को स्वेच्छा से भौतिक इच्छाएँ समाप्त करनी चाहिए।) ॥ ९-१९-१४ ॥

यदा न कुरुते भावं सर्वभूतेष्वमङ्गलम् । समदृष्टेस्तदा पुंसः सर्वाः सुखमया दिशः ॥ ९-१९-१५ ॥
When a man is nonenvious and does not desire ill fortune for anyone, he is equipoised. For such a person, all directions appear happy. ॥ 9-19-15 ॥

जब मनुष्य द्वेष-रहित होता है और किसी का बुरा नहीं चाहता तो वह समदर्शी होता है। ऐसे व्यक्ति के लिए सारी दिशाएँ सुखमय प्रतीत होती हैं। ॥ ९-१९-१५ ॥
