यस्मात्प्रियाप्रियवियोगसयोगजन्मशोकाग्निना सकलयोनिषु दह्यमानः । दुःखौषधं तदपि दुःखमतद्धियाहं भूमन् भ्रमामि वद मे तव दास्ययोगम् ।। ७-९-१७ ।।

sanskrit

O great one, O Supreme Lord, because of combination with pleasing and displeasing circumstances and because of separation from them, one is placed in a most regrettable position, within heavenly or hellish planets, as if burning in a fire of lamentation. Although there are many remedies by which to get out of miserable life, any such remedies in the material world are more miserable than the miseries themselves. Therefore I think that the only remedy is to engage in Your service. Kindly instruct me in such service. ।। 7-9-17 ।।

english translation

हे महान, हे परमेश्वर, प्रिय तथा अप्रिय परिस्थितियों के संयोग से तथा उनसे बिछुडऩे के कारण मनुष्य स्वर्ग या नरक लोकों में अत्यन्त शोचनीय स्थिति को प्राप्त होता है मानो संताप की अग्नि में जल रहा हो। यद्यपि इस दुखमय जीवन से निकलने की अनेक औषधियाँ हैं किन्तु भौतिक जगत में ये औषधियाँ दुखों से भी अधिक कष्टकारक हैं। अतएव मैं सोच रहा हूँ कि इसकी एकमात्र औषधि आपकी सेवा में संलग्न होना है। कृपया मुझे ऐसी सेवा का उपदेश दें। ।। ७-९-१७ ।।
