दस्यून् पुरा षण् न विजित्य लुम्पतो मन्यन्त एके स्वजिता दिशो दश । जितात्मनो ज्ञस्य समस्य देहिनां साधोः स्वमोहप्रभवाः कुतः परे ।। ७-८-११ ।।

In former times there were many fools like you who did not conquer the six enemies that steal away the wealth of the body. These fools were very proud, thinking, “I have conquered all enemies in all the ten directions.” But if a person is victorious over the six enemies and is equipoised toward all living entities, for him there are no enemies. Enemies are merely imagined by one in ignorance. ।। 7-8-11 ।।

english translation

प्राचीन काल में आपके समान ही अनेक मूढ हुए हैं जिन्होंने उन छह शत्रुओं को नहीं जीता जो शरीर रूपी सम्पत्ति को चुरा ले जाते हैं। ये मूढ यह सोचकर गर्वित होते हैं “मैंने तो दसों दिशाओं के सारे शत्रुओं को जीत लिया है।” किन्तु यदि कोई व्यक्ति इन छह शत्रुओं पर विजयी होता है और सारे जीवों पर समभाव रखता है, तो उसके लिए शत्रु नहीं होते। शत्रु की कल्पना मूर्खतावश की जाती है। ।। ७-८-११ ।।
