यदध्यर्थ्येह कर्माणि विद्वन्मान्यसकृन्नरः । करोत्यतो विपर्यासममोघं विन्दते फलम् ।। ७-७-४१ ।।

sanskrit

A materialistic person, thinking himself very advanced in intelligence, continually acts for economic development. But again and again, as enunciated in the Vedas, he is frustrated by material activities, either in this life or in the next. Indeed, the results one obtains are inevitably the opposite of those one desires. ।। 7-7-41 ।।

english translation

भौतिकतावादी मनुष्य अपने को अत्यन्त बुद्धिमान समझ कर निरन्तर आर्थिक विकास के लिए कर्म करता रहता है। किन्तु जैसाकि वेदों में बताया गया है, वह या तो इसी जीवन में या अगले जीवन में भौतिक कर्मों द्वारा बार-बार निराश होता रहता है। निस्सन्देह, उसे अपनी इच्छाओं से सर्वथा विपरीत फल मिलते हैं। ।। ७-७-४१ ।।
