एभिस्त्रिवर्णैः पर्यस्तैर्बुद्धिभेदैः क्रियोद्भवैः । स्वरूपमात्मनो बुध्येद्गन्धैर्वायुमिवान्वयात् ।। ७-७-२६ ।।

sanskrit

As one can understand the presence of the air by the aromas it carries, so, under the guidance of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one can understand the living soul by these three divisions of intelligence. These three divisions, however, are not the soul; they are constituted of the three modes and are born of activities. ।। 7-7-26 ।।

english translation

जिस प्रकार वायु की उपस्थिति उसके द्वारा ले जाई जाने वाली सुगन्धियों के द्वारा जानी जाती है उसी तरह भगवान् के निर्देशन में मनुष्य बुद्धि के इन तीन विभागों द्वारा जीवात्मा को समझ सकता है। किन्तु ये तीन विभाग आत्मा नहीं हैं, वे तीन गुणों से बने होते हैं और क्रियाओं से उत्पन्न होते हैं। ।। ७-७-२६ ।।

एतद्द्वारो हि संसारो गुणकर्मनिबन्धनः । अज्ञानमूलोऽपार्थोऽपि पुंसः स्वप्न इवेष्यते ।। ७-७-२७ ।।

Through polluted intelligence one is subjected to the modes of nature, and thus one is conditioned by material existence. Like a dreaming state in which one falsely suffers, material existence, which is due to ignorance, must be considered unwanted and temporary. ।। 7-7-27 ।।

english translation

दूषित बुद्धि के कारण मनुष्य को प्रकृति के गुणों के अधीन रहना पड़ता है और इस प्रकार वह भवबन्धन में पड़ जाता है। इस संसार को, जिसका कारण अज्ञान है, उसी प्रकार अवांछित तथा नश्वर मानना चाहिए जिस प्रकार स्वप्नावस्था में मनुष्य को झूठे ही कष्ट भोगना पड़ता है। ।। ७-७-२७ ।।

Therefore, my dear friends, O sons of the demons, your duty is to take to Kṛṣṇa consciousness, which can burn the seed of fruitive activities artificially created by the modes of material nature and stop the flow of the intelligence in wakefulness, dreaming and deep sleep. In other words, when one takes to Kṛṣṇa consciousness, his ignorance is immediately dissipated. ।। 7-7-28 ।।

english translation

अतएव हे मित्रो, हे असुर पुत्रो, तुम्हारा कर्तव्य है कि कृष्णभावनामृत को ग्रहण करो जो प्रकृति के गुणों द्वारा कृत्रिम रूप से उत्पन्न सकाम कर्मों के बीज को जला सकता है और जाग्रत, स्वप्न तथा सुषुप्त अवस्था में बुद्धि के प्रवाह को रोक सकता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, कृष्णभावनामृत ग्रहण करने पर मनुष्य का अज्ञान तुरन्त विनष्ट हो जाता है। ।। ७-७-२८ ।।

Of the different processes recommended for disentanglement from material life, the one personally explained and accepted by the Supreme Personality of Godhead should be considered all-perfect. That process is the performance of duties by which love for the Supreme Lord develops. ।। 7-7-29 ।।

english translation

भौतिक जीवन से छूटने के लिए जितनी विधियाँ संस्तुत हैं उनमें से उस एक को जिसे स्वयं भगवान् ने बताया है और स्वीकार किया है, सभी तरह से पूर्ण समझना चाहिए। वह विधि है कर्तव्य का सम्पन्न किया जाना जिससे परमेश्वर के प्रति प्रेम विकसित होता है। ।। ७-७-२९ ।।

गुरुशुश्रूषया भक्त्या सर्वलब्धार्पणेन च । सङ्गेन साधुभक्तानामीश्वराराधनेन च ।। ७-७-३० ।।

One must accept the bona fide spiritual master and render service unto him with great devotion and faith. Whatever one has in one’s possession should be offered to the spiritual master, and in the association of saintly persons and devotees one should worship the Lord, ।। 7-7-30 ।।

english translation

मनुष्य को प्रामाणिक गुरु स्वीकार करना चाहिए और अत्यन्त भक्ति तथा श्रद्धा से उसकी सेवा करनी चाहिए। उसके पास जो कुछ भी हो उसे गुरु को अर्पित करना चाहिए और सन्त पुरुषों तथा भक्तों की संगति में भगवान् की पूजा करनी चाहिए, ।। ७-७-३० ।।
