यावल्लिङ्गान्वितो ह्यात्मा तावत्कर्म निबन्धनम् । ततो विपर्ययः क्लेशो मायायोगोऽनुवर्तते ॥ ७-२-४७ ॥
As long as the spirit soul is covered by the subtle body, consisting of the mind, intelligence and false ego, he is bound to the results of his fruitive activities. Because of this covering, the spirit soul is connected with the material energy and must accordingly suffer material conditions and reversals, continually, life after life. ॥ 7-2-47 ॥
english translation
जब तक आत्मा मन, बुद्धि तथा मिथ्या अहंकार से युक्त सूक्ष्म शरीर द्वारा आवृत रहता है तब तक वह अपने सकाम-कर्मों के फल से बँधा रहता है। इस आवरण के कारण आत्मा भौतिक शक्ति से जुड़ा रहता है। अतएव उसे उसी के अनुसार जन्म-जन्मांतर भौतिक दशाओं एवं विपर्ययों को भोगना पड़ता है। ॥ ७-२-४७ ॥
