अनीहः परितुष्टात्मा यदृच्छोपनतादहम् । नो चेच्छये बह्वहानि महाहिरिव सत्त्ववान् ॥ ७-१३-३६ ॥
I do not endeavor to get anything, but am satisfied with whatever is achieved in its own way. If I do not get anything, I am patient and unagitated like a python and lie down in this way for many days. ॥ 7-13-36 ॥

मैं किसी भी वस्तु को प्राप्त करने के लिए प्रयत्न नहीं करता, अपितु जो कुछ भी अपने आप मिल जाता है उसी से सन्तुष्ट रहता हूँ। यदि मुझे कुछ भी नहीं मिलता तो अजगर की तरह मैं अविक्षिप्त रहते हुए धैर्यपूर्ण रहता हूँ और कई-कई दिनों तक पड़ा रहता हूँ। ॥ ७-१३-३६ ॥

क्वचिदल्पं क्वचिद्भूरि भुञ्जेऽन्नं स्वाद्वस्वादु वा । क्वचिद्भूरि गुणोपेतं गुणहीनमुत क्वचित् ॥ ७-१३-३७ ॥
Sometimes I eat a very small quantity and sometimes a great quantity. Sometimes the food is very palatable, and sometimes it is stale. ॥ 7-13-37 ॥

कभी मैं थोड़ा खाता हूँ और कभी अधिक। कभी भोजन स्वादिष्ट होता है, तो कभी बासी। ॥ ७-१३-३७ ॥

श्रद्धयोपहृतं क्वापि कदाचिन्मानवर्जितम् । भुञ्जे भुक्त्वाथ कस्मिंश्चिद्दिवा नक्तं यदृच्छया ॥ ७-१३-३८ ॥
Sometimes prasāda is offered with great respect, and sometimes food is given neglectfully. Sometimes I eat during the day and sometimes at night. Thus I eat what is easily available. ॥ 7-13-38 ॥

कभी बड़े आदर के साथ मुझे प्रसाद दिया जाता है और कभी अत्यन्त उपेक्षा से भोजन मिलता है। कभी मैं दिन में खाता हूँ तो कभी रात में। इस प्रकार मुझे जो कुछ आसानी से मिल जाता है उसे ही खाता हूँ। ॥ ७-१३-३८ ॥

क्षौमं दुकूलमजिनं चीरं वल्कलमेव वा । वसेऽन्यदपि सम्प्राप्तं दिष्टभुक् तुष्टधीरहम् ॥ ७-१३-३९ ॥
To cover my body I use whatever is available, whether it be linen, silk, cotton, bark or deerskin, according to my destiny, and I am fully satisfied and unagitated. ॥ 7-13-39 ॥

शरीर ढकने के लिए मेरे भाग्य से मुझे जो कुछ भी मिल जाता है, चाहे क्षौम वस्त्र हो या रेशमी या सूती कपड़ा, चाहे पेड़ की छाल हो या मृगछाला, उसे मैं काम में लाता हूँ। मैं पूर्ण संतुष्ट रहता हूँ तथा विचलित नहीं होता। ॥ ७-१३-३९ ॥

क्वचिच्छये धरोपस्थे तृणपर्णाश्मभस्मसु । क्वचित्प्रासादपर्यङ्के कशिपौ वा परेच्छया ॥ ७-१३-४० ॥
Sometimes I lie on the surface of the earth, sometimes on leaves, grass or stone, sometimes on a pile of ashes, or sometimes, by the will of others, in a palace on a first-class bed with pillows. ॥ 7-13-40 ॥

कभी मैं पृथ्वी पर, कभी पत्तियों पर, घास या पत्थर पर तो कभी राख के ढेर पर अथवा कभी-कभी अन्यों की इच्छा से महल के उच्च कोटि के बिस्तर तथा तकिये पर सोता हूँ। ॥ ७-१३-४० ॥
