देहादिभिर्दैवतन्त्रैरात्मनः सुखमीहतः । दुःखात्ययं चानीशस्य क्रिया मोघाः कृताः कृताः ॥ ७-१३-२९ ॥

sanskrit

The living entity tries to achieve happiness and rid himself of the causes of distress, but because the various bodies of the living entities are under the full control of material nature, all his plans in different bodies, one after another, are ultimately baffled. ॥ 7-13-29 ॥

english translation

जीव सुख प्राप्त करना चाहता है और दुख के कारणों से छूटना चाहता है, लेकिन चूँकी जीवों के शरीर प्रकृति के पूर्ण नियंत्रण में होते हैं, अतएव जीव एक के बाद एक विभिन्न शरीरों को पाकर जितनी भी योजनाएँ बनाता है वे अन्ततोगत्वा व्यर्थ हो जाती हैं। ॥ ७-१३-२९ ॥
