धर्मज्ञानविरक्त्यृद्धितपोविद्याक्रियादिभिः । रथं सूतं ध्वजं वाहान् धनुर्वर्मशरादि यत् ।। ७-१०-६६ ।।

sanskrit

Consisting of religion, knowledge, renunciation, opulence, austerity, education and activities, equipped Lord Śiva with all the necessary paraphernalia, such as a chariot, a charioteer, a flag, horses, elephants, a bow, a shield and arrows. When Lord Śiva was fully equipped in this way, ।। 7-10-66 ।।

english translation

जो धर्म, ज्ञान, त्याग, ऐश्वर्य, तपस्या, विद्या तथा कर्म से युक्त थी, सभी प्रकार की साज-सामग्री से— यथा रथ, सारथी, ध्वजा, घोड़े, हाथी, धनुष, ढाल तथा बाण से संयुक्त कर दिया। इस तरह से संयुक्त होकर शिव जी ।। ७-१०-६६ ।।

सन्नद्धो रथमास्थाय शरं धनुरुपाददे । शरं धनुषि सन्धाय मुहूर्तेऽभिजितीश्वरः ।। ७-१०-६७ ।।

sanskrit

He sat down on the chariot with his arrows and bow to fight with the demons. My dear King Yudhiṣṭhira, the most powerful Lord Śiva ।। 7-10-67 ।।

english translation

अपने धनुष-बाण द्वारा असुरों से लडऩे के लिए रथ पर आसीन हुए। हे राजा युधिष्ठिर, परम शक्तिशाली शिवजी ने ।। ७-१०-६७ ।।

ददाह तेन दुर्भेद्या हरोऽथ त्रिपुरो नृप । दिवि दुन्दुभयो नेदुर्विमानशतसङ्कुलाः ।। ७-१०-६८ ।।

Joined the arrows to his bow, and at noon he set fire to all three residences of the demons and thus destroyed them. Seated in their airplanes in the sky, the inhabitants of the higher planetary systems beat many kettledrums. ।। 7-10-68 ।।

english translation

अपने धनुष पर बाण चढ़ाये और दोपहर के समय असुरों के तीनों आवासों में अग्नि लगाकर उन्हें नष्ट कर दिया। तब आकाश में अपने-अपने विमानों में आसीन उच्चलोकों के निवासियों ने दुन्दुभियाँ बजाईं। ।। ७-१०-६८ ।।

देवर्षिपितृसिद्धेशा जयेति कुसुमोत्करैः । अवाकिरन् जगुर्हृष्टा ननृतुश्चाप्सरोगणाः ।। ७-१०-६९ ।।

The demigods, saints, Pitās, Siddhas and various great personalities showered flowers on the head of Lord Śiva, wishing him all victory, and the Apsarās began to chant and dance with great pleasure. ।। 7-10-69 ।।

english translation

देवताओं, ऋषियों, पितरों, सिद्धों तथा विविध महापुरुषों ने शिव जी के ऊपर पुष्प-वर्षा की और जयजयकार की। अप्सराएँ परम प्रमुदित होकर नाचने-गाने लगीं। ।। ७-१०-६९ ।।

एवं दग्ध्वा पुरस्तिस्रो भगवान् पुरहा नृप । ब्रह्मादिभिः स्तूयमानः स्वधाम प्रत्यपद्यत ।। ७-१०-७० ।।

sanskrit

O King Yudhiṣṭhira, thus Lord Śiva is known as Tripurāri, the annihilator of the three dwellings of the demons, because he burnt these dwellings to ashes. Being worshiped by the demigods, headed by Lord Brahmā, Lord Śiva returned to his own abode. ।। 7-10-70 ।।

english translation

हे राजा युधिष्ठिर, इस प्रकार शिवजी त्रिपुरारी कहलाते हैं, क्योंकि उन्होंने असुरों की तीनों पुरियों को भस्म कर दिया था। ब्रह्मा समेत समस्त देवताओं से पूजित होकर शिव जी अपने धाम लौट गये। ।। ७-१०-७० ।।
