कुरु त्वं प्रेतकृत्यानि पितुः पूतस्य सर्वशः । मदङ्गस्पर्शनेनाङ्ग लोकान् यास्यति सुप्रजाः ॥ ७-१०-२२ ॥
My dear child, your father has already been purified just by the touch of My body at the time of his death. Nonetheless, the duty of a son is to perform the śrāddha ritualistic ceremony after his father’s death so that his father may be promoted to a planetary system where he may become a good citizen and devotee. ॥ 7-10-22 ॥

मेरे बालक, तुम्हारा पिता अपनी मृत्यु के समय मेरे शरीर के स्पर्श मात्र से पहले ही पवित्र हो चुका है। तो भी पुत्र का कर्तव्य है कि वह अपने पिता की मृत्यु के पश्चात् श्राद्ध-क्रिया सम्पन्न करे जिससे उसका पिता ऐसे लोक को जा सके जहाँ वह अच्छा नागरिक तथा भक्त बन सके। ॥ ७-१०-२२ ॥
