मृष्टचत्वररथ्याट्टमार्गं चन्दनचर्चितम् । लाजाक्षतैः पुष्पफलैस्तण्डुलैर्बलिभिर्युतम् ।। ४-९-५७ ।।

sanskrit

All the quadrangles, lanes and streets in the city, and the raised sitting places at the crossings, were thoroughly cleansed and sprinkled with sandalwood water; and auspicious grains such as rice and barley, and flowers, fruits and many other auspicious presentations, were scattered all over the city. ।। 4-9-57 ।।

english translation

नगर की सभी चौकें, गलियाँ, मार्ग तथा चौराहों की अटारियाँ अच्छी तरह स्वच्छ करके चन्दन जल से छिडक़ी गई थीं और सारे नगर में धान तथा जौ जैसे शुभ अन्न, फूल, फल तथा अन्य अनेक शुभ उपहार-सामग्रियाँ बिखेरी हुई थीं। ।। ४-९-५७ ।।
