त्रिरात्रान्ते त्रिरात्रान्ते कपित्थबदराशनः । आत्मवृत्त्यनुसारेण मासं निन्येऽर्चयन् हरिम् ।। ४-८-७२ ।।

sanskrit

For the first month Dhruva Mahārāja ate only fruits and berries on every third day, only to keep his body and soul together, and in this way he progressed in his worship of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. ।। 4-8-72 ।।

english translation

ध्रुव महाराज ने पहले महीने में अपने शरीर की रक्षा (निर्वाह) हेतु हर तीसरे दिन केवल कैथे तथा बेर का भोजन किया और इस प्रकार से वे भगवान् की पूजा को आगे बढ़ाते रहे। ।। ४-८-७२ ।।
