कर्णान्त्रैकपदाश्वास्यैर्निर्जुष्टं वृकनाभिभिः । कदलीखण्डसंरुद्धनलिनीपुलिनश्रियम् ॥ ४-६-२१ ॥
There are varieties of deer, such as karṇāntra, ekapada, aśvāsya, vṛka and kastūrī, the deer which bears musk. Besides the deer there are many banana trees which decorate the small hillside lakes very nicely. ॥ 4-6-21 ॥

वहाँ पर तरह तरह के मृग पाये जाते हैं, यथा कर्णांत्र, एकपद, अश्वास्य, वृक तथा कस्तूरी मृग। इन मृगों के अतिरिक्त विविध केले के वृक्ष हैं, जो छोटी-छोटी झीलों के तटों को सुशोभित करते हैं। ॥ ४-६-२१ ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptपर्यस्तं नन्दया सत्याः स्नानपुण्यतरोदया । विलोक्य भूतेशगिरिं विबुधा विस्मयं ययुः ॥ ४-६-२२ ॥
There is a small lake named Alakanandā in which Satī used to take her bath, and that lake is especially auspicious. All the demigods, after seeing the specific beauty of Kailāsa Hill, were struck with wonder at the great opulence to be found there. ॥ 4-6-22 ॥

वहाँ पर अलकनन्दा नामक एक छोटी सी झील है, जिसमें सती स्नान किया करती थीं। यह झील विशेष रूप से शुभ है। कैलास पर्वत की विशेष शोभा देखकर सभी देवता वहाँ के ऐश्वर्य से अत्यधिक विस्त्रित थे। ॥ ४-६-२२ ॥

paryastaM nandayA satyAH snAnapuNyatarodayA । vilokya bhUtezagiriM vibudhA vismayaM yayuH ॥ 4-6-22 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptददृशुस्तत्र ते रम्यामलकां नाम वै पुरीम् । वनं सौगन्धिकं चापि यत्र तन्नामपङ्कजम् ॥ ४-६-२३ ॥
Thus the demigods saw the wonderfully beautiful region known as Alakā in the forest known as Saugandhika, which means “full of fragrance.” The forest is known as Saugandhika because of its abundance of lotus flowers. ॥ 4-6-23 ॥

इस प्रकार देवताओं ने सौगन्धिक नामक वन में अलका नामक विचित्र सुन्दर भाग को देखा। यह वन कमल पुष्पों की अधिकता के कारण सौगन्धिक कहलाता है। सौगन्धिक का अर्थ है “सुगन्धि से पूर्ण।” ॥ ४-६-२३ ॥

dadRzustatra te ramyAmalakAM nAma vai purIm । vanaM saugandhikaM cApi yatra tannAmapaGkajam ॥ 4-6-23 ॥
hk transliteration by Sanscriptनन्दा चालकनन्दा च सरितौ बाह्यतः पुरः । तीर्थपादपदाम्भोजरजसातीव पावने ॥ ४-६-२४ ॥
They also saw the two rivers named Nandā and Alakanandā. These two rivers are sanctified by the dust of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Govinda. ॥ 4-6-24 ॥

उन्होंने नन्दा तथा अलकनन्दा नामक दो नदियाँ भी देखीं। ये दोनों नदियाँ भगवान् गोविन्द के चरणकमलों की रज से पवित्र हो चुकी हैं। ॥ ४-६-२४ ॥

hk transliteration by Sanscriptययोः सुरस्त्रियः क्षत्तरवरुह्य स्वधिष्ण्यतः । क्रीडन्ति पुंसः सिञ्चन्त्यो विगाह्य रतिकर्शिताः ॥ ४-६-२५ ॥
My dear Kṣattā, Vidura, the celestial damsels come down to those rivers in their airplanes with their husbands, and after sexual enjoyment, they enter the water and enjoy sprinkling their husbands with water. ॥ 4-6-25 ॥
english translation
हे क्षत्त, है विदुर, स्वर्ग की सुन्दरियाँ अपने-अपने पतियों सहित विमानों से इन नदियों में उतरती हैं और काम-क्रीड़ा के पश्चात् जल में प्रवेश करती हैं तथा अपने पतियों के ऊपर पानी उलीच कर आनन्द उठाती हैं। ॥ ४-६-२५ ॥
