राजोवाच श्रुतमन्वीक्षितं ब्रह्मन् भगवान् यदभाषत । नैतज्जानन्त्युपाध्यायाः किं न ब्रूयुर्विदुर्यदि ।। ४-२९-५६ ।।

sanskrit

The King replied: My dear brāhmaṇa, whatever you have said I have heard with great attention and, considering all of it, have come to the conclusion that the ācāryas [teachers] who engaged me in fruitive activity did not know this confidential knowledge. If they were aware of it, why did they not explain it to me? ।। 4-29-56 ।।

english translation

राजा ने कहा : हे ब्राह्मण, आपने जो कुछ कहा है उसे मैंने अत्यन्त मनोयोग से सुना है और सम्यक् विचार के पश्चात् मैं इस निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचा हूँ कि जिन आचार्यों (शिक्षकों) ने मुझे कर्मकाण्ड में प्रवृत्त किया, वे इस गुह्य ज्ञान को नहीं जानते थे। और यदि वे इससे अवगत थे तो फिर उन्होंने मुझे क्यों नहीं बताया? ।। ४-२९-५६ ।।

rAjovAca zrutamanvIkSitaM brahman bhagavAn yadabhASata | naitajjAnantyupAdhyAyAH kiM na brUyurviduryadi || 4-29-56 ||
