गुणाभिमानी स तदा कर्माणि कुरुतेऽवशः । शुक्लं कृष्णं लोहितं वा यथा कर्माभिजायते ॥ ४-२९-२७ ॥
He identifies himself with the body and, for the interest of the body, becomes attached to various activities. Sometimes he is under the influence of the mode of ignorance, sometimes the mode of passion and sometimes the mode of goodness. The living entity thus gets different types of bodies under the modes of material nature. ॥ 4-29-27 ॥

इस तरह प्रकृति के गुणों के वशीभूत होकर वह अपने को शरीर मान बैठता है। कभी वह तमोगुण, तो कभी रजोगुण और कभी सतोगुण के अधीन होता है। इस प्रकार जीव प्रकृति के गुणों के अधीन रह कर विभिन्न प्रकार के शरीर प्राप्त करता है। ॥ ४-२९-२७ ॥
