तत्र निर्भिन्नगात्राणां चित्रवाजैः शिलीमुखैः । विप्लवोऽभूद्दुःखितानां दुःसहः करुणात्मनाम् ।। ४-२६-९ ।।

sanskrit

When King Purañjana was hunting in this way, many animals within the forest lost their lives with great pain, being pierced by the sharp arrowheads. Upon seeing these devastating, ghastly activities performed by the King, all the people who were merciful by nature became very unhappy. Such merciful persons could not tolerate seeing all this killing. ।। 4-26-9 ।।

english translation

जब राजा पुरञ्जन इस प्रकार आखेट करने लगा तो तीक्ष्ण बाणों से भिदकर जंगल में अनेक पशु अत्यधिक पीड़ा से अपना प्राण त्यागने लगे। राजा के इन विनाशकारी निर्दयतापूर्ण कार्यों को देखकर दयालु पुरुष अत्यन्त खिन्न हो गए। इस प्रकार के दयालु पुरूष यह सारा वध देख कर सहन नहीं कर सके। ।। ४-२६-९ ।।
