दुर्धर्षस्तेजसेवाग्निर्महेन्द्र इव दुर्जयः । तितिक्षया धरित्रीव द्यौरिवाभीष्टदो नृणाम् ।। ४-२२-५७ ।।

sanskrit

Mahārāja Pṛthu was so strong and powerful that no one could disobey his orders, any more than one could conquer fire itself. He was so strong that he was compared to Indra, the King of heaven, whose power is insuperable. On the other hand, Mahārāja Pṛthu was also as tolerant as the earth, and in fulfilling various desires of human society, he was like heaven itself. ।। 4-22-57 ।।

english translation

महाराज पृथु इतने प्रबल तथा शक्तिमान थे कि उनके आदेशों का उल्लंघन करना मानो अग्नि को जीतना था। वे इतने बलशाली थे कि उनकी उपमा स्वर्ग के राजा इन्द्र से दी जाती थी जिसकी शक्ति अजेय है। दूसरी ओर महाराज पृथु पृथ्वी के समान सहिष्णु भी थे और मानव समाज की विभिन्न इच्छाएँ पूरी करने में वे स्वयं स्वर्ग के समान थे। ।। ४-२२-५७ ।।
