अपामुपस्थे मयि नाव्यवस्थिताः प्रजा भवानद्य रिरक्षिषुः किल । स वीरमूर्तिः समभूद्धराधरो यो मां पयस्युग्रशरो जिघांससि ।। ४-१७-३५ ।।

My dear Lord, in this way You once protected me by rescuing me from the water, and consequently Your name has been famous as Dharādhara — He who holds the planet earth. Yet at the present moment, in the form of a great hero, You are about to kill me with sharpened arrows. I am, however, just like a boat on the water, keeping everything afloat. ।। 4-17-35 ।।

english translation

हे भगवन्, इस प्रकार आपने एक बार जल-राशि से मेरा उद्धार किया, जिससे आपका नाम धराधर, अर्थात् पृथ्वी को धारण करनेवाला पड़ा। तो भी आप इस समय, महान् वीर के रूप में अपने तीखे बाणों से मुझे मारने के लिए उद्यत हैं। किन्तु मैं तो जल की नाव के सदृश हूँ जो प्रत्येक वस्तु को तैराये रखती है। ।। ४-१७-३५ ।।

apAmupasthe mayi nAvyavasthitAH prajA bhavAnadya rirakSiSuH kila | sa vIramUrtiH samabhUddharAdharo yo mAM payasyugrazaro jighAMsasi || 4-17-35 ||
