इतिहासपुराणानि पञ्चमं वेदमीश्वरः । सर्वेभ्य एव वक्त्रेभ्यः ससृजे सर्वदर्शनः ॥ ३-१२-३९ ॥

Then he created the fifth Veda — the Purāṇas and the histories — from all his mouths, since he could see all the past, present and future. ॥ 3-12-39 ॥

english translation

तब उन्होंने अपने सारे मुखों से पाँचवें वेद—पुराणों तथा इतिहासों—की सृष्टि की, क्योंकि वे सम्पूर्ण भूत, वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को देख सकते थे। ॥ ३-१२-३९ ॥
