तावज्जितेन्द्रियो न स्याद्विजितान्येन्द्रियः पुमान् । न जयेद्रसनं यावज्जितं सर्वं जिते रसे ।। ११-८-२१ ।।

sanskrit

Although one may conquer all of the other senses, as long as the tongue is not conquered it cannot be said that one has controlled his senses. However, if one is able to control the tongue, then one is understood to be in full control of all the senses. ।। 11-8-21 ।।

english translation

हालाँकि कोई अन्य सभी इंद्रियों पर विजय प्राप्त कर सकता है, लेकिन जब तक जीभ पर विजय नहीं मिलती तब तक यह नहीं कहा जा सकता कि उसने अपनी इंद्रियों को नियंत्रित कर लिया है। हालाँकि, यदि कोई जीभ को नियंत्रित करने में सक्षम है, तो यह समझा जाता है कि उसने सभी इंद्रियों पर पूर्ण नियंत्रण प्राप्त कर लिया है। ।। ११-८-२१ ।।
