क्षुत्तृट्त्रिकालगुणमारुतजैह्वशैश्नानस्मानपारजलधीनतितीर्य केचित् । क्रोधस्य यान्ति विफलस्य वशं पदे गोर्मज्जन्ति दुश्चरतपश्च वृथोत्सृजन्ति ।। ११-४-११ ।।

Some men practice severe penances to cross beyond our influence, which is like an immeasurable ocean with endless waves of hunger, thirst, heat, cold and the other conditions brought about by the passing of time, such as the sensuous wind and the urges of the tongue and sex organs. Nevertheless, although crossing this ocean of sense gratification through severe penances, such persons foolishly drown in a cow’s hoofprint when conquered by useless anger. Thus they exhaust the benefit of their difficult austerities in vain. ।। 11-4-11 ।।

english translation

इति प्रगृणतां तेषां स्त्रियोऽत्यद्भुतदर्शनाः । दर्शयामास शुश्रूषां स्वर्चिताः कुर्वतीर्विभुः ।। ११-४-१२ ।।

sanskrit

While the demigods were thus praising the Supreme Lord, the all-powerful Lord suddenly manifested before their eyes many women, who were astonishingly gorgeous, decorated with fine clothes and ornaments, and all faithfully engaging in the Lord’s service. ।। 11-4-12 ।।

english translation

जब देवता इस प्रकार परम भगवान की स्तुति कर रहे थे, सर्वशक्तिमान भगवान ने अचानक उनकी आंखों के सामने कई महिलाओं को प्रकट किया, जो आश्चर्यजनक रूप से भव्य थीं, अच्छे कपड़ों और आभूषणों से सजी हुई थीं और सभी ईमानदारी से भगवान की सेवा में लगी हुई थीं। ।। ११-४-१२ ।।

ते देवानुचरा दृष्ट्वा स्त्रियः श्रीरिव रूपिणीः । गन्धेन मुमुहुस्तासां रूपौदार्यहतश्रियः ।। ११-४-१३ ।।

sanskrit

When the followers of the demigods gazed upon the fascinating mystic beauty of the women created by Nara-Nārāyaṇa Ṛṣi and smelled the fragrance of their bodies, the minds of these followers became bewildered. Indeed, upon seeing the beauty and magnificence of such women, the representatives of the demigods were completely diminished in their own opulence. ।। 11-4-13 ।।

english translation

जब देवताओं के अनुयायियों ने नर-नारायण ऋषि द्वारा बनाई गई महिलाओं की आकर्षक रहस्यमय सुंदरता को देखा और उनके शरीर की सुगंध को सूंघा, तो इन अनुयायियों के मन भ्रमित हो गए। दरअसल, ऐसी महिलाओं की सुंदरता और भव्यता को देखकर, देवताओं के प्रतिनिधियों की अपनी समृद्धि पूरी तरह से क्षीण हो गई थी। ।। ११-४-१३ ।।

तानाह देवदेवेशः प्रणतान् प्रहसन्निव । आसामेकतमां वृङ्ध्वं सवर्णां स्वर्गभूषणाम् ।। ११-४-१४ ।।

sanskrit

The Supreme Lord of lords then smiled slightly and told the representatives of heaven, who were bowing down before Him, “Please choose one of these women, whomever you find suitable for you. She will become the ornament of the heavenly planets.” ।। 11-4-14 ।।

english translation

तब देवों के सर्वोच्च भगवान थोड़ा मुस्कुराए और स्वर्ग के प्रतिनिधियों से कहा, जो उनके सामने झुक रहे थे, “कृपया इन महिलाओं में से एक को चुनें, जिसे आप अपने लिए उपयुक्त पाते हैं। वह स्वर्गलोक का आभूषण बनेगी।” ।। ११-४-१४ ।।

ओमित्यादेशमादाय नत्वा तं सुरवन्दिनः । उर्वशीमप्सरःश्रेष्ठां पुरस्कृत्य दिवं ययुः ।। ११-४-१५ ।।

sanskrit

Vibrating the sacred syllable om, the servants of the demigods selected Urvaśī, the best of the Apsarās. Placing her in front of them out of respect, they returned to the heavenly planets. ।। 11-4-15 ।।

english translation

देवताओं के सेवकों ने पवित्र शब्द ॐ को स्पंदित करते हुए अप्सराओं में सर्वश्रेष्ठ उर्वशी का चयन किया। सम्मानपूर्वक उसे अपने सामने रखकर वे स्वर्गलोक लौट गये। ।। ११-४-१५ ।।
