यो यो मयि परे धर्मः कल्प्यते निष्फलाय चेत् । तदायासो निरर्थः स्याद्भयादेरिव सत्तम ।। ११-२९-२१ ।।

sanskrit

O Uddhava, greatest of saints, in a dangerous situation an ordinary person cries, becomes fearful and laments, although such useless emotions do not change the situation. But activities offered to Me without personal motivation, even if they are externally useless, amount to the actual process of religion. ।। 11-29-21 ।।

english translation

हे संतों में श्रेष्ठ उद्धव, एक खतरनाक स्थिति में एक सामान्य व्यक्ति रोता है, भयभीत होता है और विलाप करता है, हालांकि ऐसी बेकार भावनाएं स्थिति को नहीं बदलती हैं। लेकिन व्यक्तिगत प्रेरणा के बिना मुझे दी जाने वाली गतिविधियाँ, भले ही वे बाहरी रूप से बेकार हों, धर्म की वास्तविक प्रक्रिया के समान हैं। ।। ११-२९-२१ ।।
