अथ विश्वेश विश्वात्मन् विश्वमूर्ते स्वकेषु मे । स्नेहपाशमिमं छिन्धि दृढं पाण्डुषु वृष्णिषु ॥ १-८-४१ ॥
O Lord of the universe, soul of the universe, O personality of the form of the universe, please, therefore, sever my tie of affection for my kinsmen, the Pāṇḍavas and the Vṛṣṇis. ॥ 1-8-41 ॥

अत: हे ब्रह्माण्ड के स्वामी, हे ब्रह्माण्ड के आत्मा, हे विश्व-रूप, कृपा करके मेरे स्वजनों, पाण्डवों तथा वृष्णियों के प्रति मेरे स्नेह-बन्धन को काट डालें। ॥ १-८-४१ ॥

त्वयि मेऽनन्यविषया मतिर्मधुपतेऽसकृत् । रतिमुद्वहतादद्धा गङ्गेवौघमुदन्वति ॥ १-८-४२ ॥
O Lord of Madhu, as the Ganges forever flows to the sea without hindrance, let my attraction be constantly drawn unto You without being diverted to anyone else. ॥ 1-8-42 ॥

हे मधुपति, जिस प्रकार गंगा नदी बिना किसी व्यवधान के सदैव समुद्र की ओर बहती है, उसी प्रकार मेरा आकर्षण अन्य किसी ओर न बँट कर आपकी ओर निरन्तर बना रहे। ॥ १-८-४२ ॥

श्रीकृष्ण कृष्णसख वृष्ण्यृषभावनिध्रुग्राजन्यवंशदहनानपवर्गवीर्य । गोविन्द गोद्विजसुरार्तिहरावतारयोगेश्वराखिलगुरो भगवन् नमस्ते ॥ १-८-४३ ॥
O Kṛṣṇa, O friend of Arjuna, O chief amongst the descendants of Vṛṣṇi, You are the destroyer of those political parties which are disturbing elements on this earth. Your prowess never deteriorates. You are the proprietor of the transcendental abode, and You descend to relieve the distresses of the cows, the brāhmaṇas and the devotees. You possess all mystic powers, and You are the preceptor of the entire universe. You are the almighty God, and I offer You my respectful obeisances. ॥ 1-8-43 ॥

हे कृष्ण, हे अर्जुन के मित्र, हे वृष्णिकुल के प्रमुख, आप उन समस्त राजनीतिक पक्षों के विध्वंसक हैं, जो इस धरा पर उपद्रव फैलानेवाले हैं। आपका शौर्य कभी क्षीण नहीं होता। आप दिव्य धाम के स्वामी हैं और आप गायों, ब्राह्मणों तथा भक्तों के कष्टों को दूर करने के लिए अवतरित होते हैं। आपमें सारी योग-शक्तियाँ हैं और आप समस्त विश्व के उपदेशक (गुरु) हैं। आप सर्वशक्तिमान ईश्वर हैं। मैं आपको सादर प्रणाम करती हूँ। ॥ १-८-४३ ॥

सूत उवाच पृथयेत्थं कलपदैः परिणूताखिलोदयः । मन्दं जहास वैकुण्ठो मोहयन्निव मायया ॥ १-८-४४ ॥
Sūta Gosvāmī said: The Lord, thus hearing the prayers of Kuntīdevī, composed in choice words for His glorification, mildly smiled. That smile was as enchanting as His mystic power. ॥ 1-8-44 ॥

सूत गोस्वामी ने कहा : इस प्रकार भगवान् अपने महिमागान के लिए चुने हुए शब्दों में कुन्तीदेवी के द्वारा की गई प्रार्थना सुनकर मन्द-मन्द मुसकाए। यह मुस्कान उनकी योगशक्ति के समान ही मोहक थी। ॥ १-८-४४ ॥

तां बाढमित्युपामन्त्र्य प्रविश्य गजसाह्वयम् । स्त्रियश्च स्वपुरं यास्यन् प्रेम्णा राज्ञा निवारितः ॥ १-८-४५ ॥
Thus accepting the prayers of Śrīmatī Kuntīdevī, the Lord subsequently informed other ladies of His departure by entering the palace of Hastināpura. But upon preparing to leave, He was stopped by King Yudhiṣṭhira, who implored Him lovingly. ॥ 1-8-45 ॥

इस तरह श्रीमती कुन्तीदेवी की प्रार्थनाएं स्वीकार करने के बाद भगवान् ने हस्तिनापुर के राजमहल में प्रवेश करके अन्य स्त्रियों को अपने प्रस्थान की सूचना दी। लेकिन उन्हें प्रस्थान करते देख, राजा युधिष्ठिर ने उन्हें रोक लिया और अत्यन्त प्रेमपूर्वक उनसे याचना की। ॥ १-८-४५ ॥
