युवाभ्यां हि मया दत्ता कारणत्वप्रसिद्धये ॥ मंत्ररत्नं च सूत्राख्यं पञ्चाक्षरमयं परम् ॥ ७६ ॥

I have given it to you both to prove that you are the cause. The gem of mantras is also known as the Sutra and is composed of five syllables.

मयोपदिष्टं सर्वं तद्युवयोरद्य विस्मृतम् ॥ ददामि च पुनः सर्वं यथापूर्वं ममाज्ञया ॥ ७७ ॥

Today you have forgotten everything I taught you. I shall give you everything again as before at my command.

english translation

mayopadiSTaM sarvaM tadyuvayoradya vismRtam ॥ dadAmi ca punaH sarvaM yathApUrvaM mamAjJayA ॥ 77 ॥

यतो विना युवां तेन न क्षमौ सृष्टिरक्षणे ॥ एवमुक्त्वा महादेवो नारायणपितामहौ ॥ ७८ ॥

Because without you, we would not be able to protect the creation. Having thus spoken to the grandfathers of Lord Nārāyaṇa.

yato vinA yuvAM tena na kSamau sRSTirakSaNe ॥ evamuktvA mahAdevo nArAyaNapitAmahau ॥ 78 ॥

मंत्रराजं ददौ ताभ्यां ज्ञानसंहितया सह ॥ तौ लब्ध्वा महतीं दिव्यामाज्ञां माहेश्वरीं पराम् ॥ ७९ ॥

He gave them the king of mantras along with the code of knowledge. Having obtained the great divine command of the supreme goddess Maheswari.

महार्थं मंत्ररत्नं च तथैव सकलाः कलाः ॥ दंडवत्प्रणतिं कृत्वा देवदेवस्य पादयोः ॥ ८० ॥

The great meaning is the gem of mantras and so are all the arts. He bowed down at the feet of the god of gods like a rod.
