कालं प्रज्ञाविशेषेण को ऽतिवर्तितुमर्हति ॥ कालेन तु कृतं कर्म न कश्चिदतिवर्तते ॥ ११ ॥

Who can go beyond Kāla with the help of intellect? None can go beyond Karman perpetrated by Kāla.

english translation

kAlaM prajJAvizeSeNa ko 'tivartitumarhati ॥ kAlena tu kRtaM karma na kazcidativartate ॥ 11 ॥

एकच्छत्रां महीं कृत्स्नां ये पराक्रम्य शासति ॥ ते ऽपि नैवातिवर्तंते कालवेलामिवाब्धयः ॥ १२ ॥

Even those who attack the earth and rule it under a single umbrella cannot step beyond Kāla like the oceans that do not overflow the shore.

english translation

ekacchatrAM mahIM kRtsnAM ye parAkramya zAsati ॥ te 'pi naivAtivartaMte kAlavelAmivAbdhayaH ॥ 12 ॥

ये निगृह्येंद्रियग्रामं जयंति सकलं जगत् ॥ न जयंत्यपि ते कालं कालो जयति तानपि ॥ १३ ॥

Even those who restrain their sense-organs and conquer the universe cannot conquer Kāla. Kāla overwhelms them.

ye nigRhyeMdriyagrAmaM jayaMti sakalaM jagat ॥ na jayaMtyapi te kAlaM kAlo jayati tAnapi ॥ 13 ॥

आयुर्वेदविदो वैद्यास्त्वनुष्ठितरसायनाः ॥ न मृत्युमतिवर्तंते कालो हि दुरतिक्रमः ॥ १४ ॥

Physicians well-versed in medicines regularly taking in elixirs and aphrodisiacs do not thwart death. Indeed Kāla is untransgressable.

श्रिया रूपेण शीलेन बलेन च कुलेन च ॥ अन्यच्चिंतयते जंतुः कालो ऽन्यत्कुरुते बलात् ॥ १५ ॥

The individual soul proposes something on the basis of its glory, beauty, conduct, strength and pedigree but Kāla disposes it.
